Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream has been used and loved by families since 1931 and it’s great for soothing sore skin and treating nappy rash. The product is versatile enough to be used by the whole family for cuts & grazes, acne, eczema, sunburn, minor burns, bedsores and chilblains. In 1931 Thomas Smith, a Professor of Pharmacy and a retail pharmacist in Dublin developed a unique cream from the back of his humble shop. The healing cream was excellent at treating nappy rash, eczema, pressure sores, incontinence rash and a variety of other minor skin lesions. Still manufactured in Dublin, the Sudocrem formula has withstood the tests of time and remains unchanged from its humble origins.
What is nappy rash?
Nappy rash is one of the most common skin conditions in the early stages of a baby’s life. At some point in the first two years your baby will probably get it. Nappy rash is an irritation of the skin caused or aggravated by contact with wee and poo in a nappy. The rash starts with a slight reddening of the skin in the nappy area and can progress to soreness and discomfort. Don’t feel guilty if your baby does develop nappy rash. It doesn’t mean you’re not doing a wonderful job caring for your baby – dealing with nappy rash is just a part of being a parent!
If you are using a nappy rash cream and the symptoms persist or your baby develops a bright red, moist rash with white or red pimples which spreads to the folds of the skin, then your baby may have a thrush infection. Ask your GP, pharmacist or health visitor for advice. Occasionally nappy rash can become persistent or can be related to other skin conditions like eczema. If you’re at all worried it’s a good idea to speak to your doctor or health visitor.
