Lanolin

Excellent emollient – it helps soften and soothe skin. Lanolin falls into the lipid-rich emollient class of moisturizers. Lanolin forms an oily layer on the top of the skin that traps water in the skin.  One of the causes of dry skin is a lack of lipids, which allows water to escape.  Lanolin absorbs moisture from the air around it, rejuvenating skin.

White Petrolatum

Very highly refined. With a melting point, close to body temperature, petrolatum softens upon application creating an effective barrier that traps the skin’s natural moisture. Petrolatum protects injured or exposed skin from harmful or annoying external sources while also providing relief to the skin, sealing off the skin from water and air allowing the skin to heal itself.
